imageApplications open for the next Google Teacher Academy - The GTAis a FREE 2 day professional development experience designed to help primary and secondary educators from around the globe get the most from innovative technologies. Produced by CUE, each Academy gives participants hands-on experience with Google's free products and immerse themselves in a supportive community of educators making impact. The next GTA is October 3-4 in New York City.

New Chromebooks pricing, Interface, and devices - On May 31 we announced some exciting developments for Chromebooks for Education, our popular laptops for schools. We now have new hardware, a major software update and many more robust apps. For schools, we also lowered the price of our popular Samsung Series 5 device. With an 8.5 hour battery life and a start up time of 8 seconds, many schools are purchasing sets for their students. Learn more on our website.
imageGoogle Science Fair Finalists announced - From helping people with hearing loss enjoy music to saving water with vacuflush toilets—the projects of the 15 finalists for the Google Science Fair have blown us away. In early June we selected 15 finalists from our top 90 regional finalists. Congratulations to the winners of the Scientific American Science in Action Award, Sakhiwe Shongwe and Bonkhe Mahlalela from Swaziland (photo at left). Their project explores an affordable way to provide hydroponics to poor subsistence farmers.

Teacher-ready playlists on YouTube.com/Teachers - We recently partnered with CUE to update the 300+ curated playlists onYouTube.com/Teachers. These playlists of 8-12 teacher-approved YouTube EDU videos were created by teachers for teachers so you can spend more time learning and less time searching.
imageNew education channels launched on YouTube.com/Education -We have new YouTube education channels to explore beyond academia, with a broader focus on knowledge and inspiration. Check them out, subscribe to the channels, and stay tuned!
  • Smart Girls at the Party - Funny & deceivingly educational programs, created by & featuring Amy Poehler (SNL, Parks and Recreation), Meredith Walker, and Amy Miles.
  • SoulPancake - From actor Rainn Wilson (The Office), SoulPancake offers energetic, smart, and creative reality and docu-style programming.
  • TakePart TV - From the makers of “An Inconvenient Truth”, this is fun, provocative content about world-changing people and ideas.
Google’s Computing and Programming Experience Launches! - We are excited to launch the 3rd year of Google’s Computing and Programming Experience (CAPE), for high-achieving, rising 9th graders. The aim of the program is to inspire and excite the next generation of leaders in computing. Over 120 students will spend three-weeks on our Mountain View and New York campuses learning about Computer Science through interactive projects, exciting field trips, and time with Google Engineers.
imageComputer Science 4 High School Grant Program 2012 - Through the Google Computer Science 4 High School (CS4HS) Program, we are providing funding to 132 university led CS education projects across 38 countries in the world. CS4HS aims to scale CS education knowledge from universities by encouraging them to work in tandem with local high schools and teachers. In 2012, CS4HS has more than doubled in size and grown in its regional reach, contributing over one million dollars worth of community funding this year.

RISE (Roots in Science and Engineering) Awards opening Fall 2012Google’s RISE (Roots in Science and Engineering) Awards are opening early this year! Applications will be accepted starting August 1st.Sign-up for our mailing list to learn more and check out our site to see what amazing organizations have been part of our community in 2012. Organizations eligible for consideration include groups in the United States, Canada and EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) working to promote and support Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), as well as CS education initiatives.
imageDoodle 4 Google winners - We recently announced the winners of the Doodle 4 Google contests in the USA. Dylan Hoffman, who attends the Prairie School in Racine, Wisconsin, responded to this year’s theme “If I could travel in time I’d visit...” with a colorful depiction of his dream visit to an era filled with swashbucklers. With his win, Dylan has come into some treasure of his own: a $30,000 college scholarship, a Chromebook computer and a $50,000 technology grant for his school.

Diversity and Inclusion Annual Report - Google is committed to creating a workplace that brings together individuals from a diversity of backgrounds, and where employees feel comfortable bringing their whole selves to work. Read more about our diversity efforts in this year’s annual report.

imageWorld Wonders Project - From the archaeological areas of Pompeii to the Hiroshima Peace Memorial, Google’s World Wonders Project aims to bring to life the wonders of the modern and ancient world. By using our Street View technology, teachers and students can visit world heritage sites across the globe.

Search Education Hub Website - We’re pleased to announce our new Search Education website, bringing educators the tools they need to help students become savvy searchers and independent learners. A bit of instruction in how to search for academic sources can help your students become critical thinkers and independent learners

EduatGoogle - We now have one YouTube channel on which we’ll store all the Google in Education videos: EduatGoogle. We have playlists on topics (like learning on the web), which include everything from short videos to one hour, in-depth Google+ Hangouts.
